Galactic Encounter is an urban regeneration project focused on transforming Eskişehir’s former industrial district into a more connected and interactive urban environment. Inspired by the concept of galactic encounters, the project explores how different districts can come together, interact, and create new spatial relationships. - 4th year design studio

Challenge
The former industrial area consists of disconnected urban districts that function independently, with limited opportunities for interaction. The challenge was to identify where these districts should meet and transform their fragmented relationships into meaningful urban encounters.
Goal
To reconnect the surrounding districts by creating a network of encounter spaces that encourage interaction, strengthen urban connections, and establish a cohesive identity for the area.
Solution
The project translates the concept of galactic encounters into an urban design strategy. By analyzing the unique encounter patterns of surrounding districts and interpreting them through galactic interactions, distinct encounter zones were developed. These spaces act as points of connection, bringing previously separated districts together and transforming the former industrial area into an interconnected urban experience.
